Advocate Anandaday Misshra

Looking to the ongoing protests and non co-operation movements in the Parliament , the Implementation of Goods & Service Tax (GST) regime in India from 1st April 2016 is in doldrums .

Since the factum is that once the GST Bill is passed from Rajya Sabha, it will again take good time to be passed by atleast 50% of the states and then only GST can be enacted and implemented .

In case it fails to see the sunlight in monsoon session , then it will have to wait for winter sessions for passing from Rajya Sabha  .

Further , it can be sensed from an interview of Shri Arun Jaitley , Finance  Minister by ET Now , wherein he has quoted that

“If the GST bill gets delayed in this session and its legislation gets delayed, the responsibility will be squarely on the Congress party. India will suffer because it has a party which is refusing to advise itself adequately.”

Accordingly , it is certain that the deadline of 1st April 2016 will fail and the new and practical date may extend to August or September 2016 for implementation of GST .
