The Government of India, through Notification No. 26 (RE-2005)/2004-09 dated September 2, 2005, introduced amendments to the Schedule-I (Imports) of the ITC (HS) Classifications of Export and Import Items, 2004-09. These amendments were made under Section 5 of the Foreign Trade (Development and Regulation) Act, 1992, in conjunction with paragraph 2.1 of the Foreign Trade Policy, 2004-09. The changes focus on import conditions for specific stone products, including various types of marble, travertine, alabaster, and other calcareous stones.
According to the amendment, items under EXIM Codes 68022190, 68022200, 68029100, and 68029200 can be imported freely if their CIF (Cost, Insurance, and Freight) value is at least USD 2,700 per cubic meter. This condition ensures that only higher-value stone products are eligible for unrestricted import, aligning with policy objectives to regulate and standardize trade practices. All other terms and conditions of the earlier Notification No. 23 (RE-2005) dated August 31, 2005, remain unchanged. Issued in the public interest, this notification reflects the government’s ongoing efforts to streamline foreign trade policies while addressing specific trade requirements.

S.O. (E) In exercise of powers conferred under section 5 of the Foreign Trade (Development and Regulation) Act, 1992 read with paragraph 2.1 of the Foreign Trade Policy, 2004-09, the Central Government hereby makes the following amendments in Schedule-I (Imports) to the ITC (HS) Classifications of Export and Import Items, 2004-09:
1. In Notification No.23 (RE-2005)/2004-09 dated 31.8.2005, in Sl.No.1 below EXIM Code “68022120” and related entries, the following shall be inserted:
