Subject: Prohibition on export of wheat – Exemption for export of wheat to Afghanistan.

S.O. (E) In exercise of the powers conferred by Section 5 of Foreign Trade (Development & Regulation) Act, 1992 (No.22 of 1992) read with Para 2.1 of the Foreign Trade Policy, 2009-2014, the Central Government hereby makes, the following addition with immediate effect at the end of Paragraph No. 2 of Notification No. 33(RE-2007)/2004-2009, dated 08.10.2007, as amended from time to time (pertaining to prohibition on export of wheat and wheat products).

2. In Notification No. 33(RE-2007)/2004-2009, dated 08.10.2007, sub para 2.10 was added on 12.05.2010 vide Notification No. 40/2009-14. Now another sub-para 2.11 is added as under:

“2.11 The prohibition imposed by Notification No. 33(RE-2007)/2004-2009, dated 08.10.2007 on export of w heat shall not be applicable to export of 1,00,000 MT of wheat to Afghanistan through Food Corporation of India.”

3. This quantity shall be exported by Food Corporation of India out of the Central Pool stock during the Financial Year 2010-11 i.e. upto 31.03.2011.

4. Effect of this notification:

The export of 1,00,000 MTs of wheat to Afghanistan, as a donation from Government of India to the Government of Islamic Republic of Afghanistan will be permitted for export through FCI. upto 31.03.2011.
