Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue) through the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) issued Notification No. 69/2024 on 23rd October 2024, making amendments to earlier notifications related to customs tariffs. The changes affect the tariff values for a range of goods, including crude palm oil, refined palm oil, soya bean oil, brass scrap, gold, silver, and areca nuts. The updated tariff values are outlined in three new tables replacing previous ones. For most items, including palm oil, brass scrap, and crude soya bean oil, the tariff values remain unchanged.

The notification also specifies the tariff for gold and silver under certain headings, which includes a tariff value of $855 per 10 grams for gold and $1118 per kilogram for silver, with minor clarifications on applicable forms. These updates come into effect from 24th October 2024 and aim to maintain clarity on applicable customs duties for imported goods. This notification builds upon the principal notification from 2001 and its recent amendments from October 2024.
