e-Sanchit

e-Sanchit was launched under SWIFT (Single Window Interface for Facilitating Trade) to introduce paperless processing. e-SANCHIT is an integral part of SWIFT. e-SANCHIT means e-storage and computerized handling of indirect tax documents. It allows the trader to upload all supporting documents digitally for obtaining clearances. This eliminates the need for the trader to approach PGAs (Participating Government Agencies) for obtaining various clearances. Thus, e-SANCHIT makes the entire consignment clearance process paperless and faceless and significantly reduced clearance time by uploading trade supporting documents electronically.

e-Sanchit was launched by Central Board of Indirect Taxes & Customs (CBIC) on 20th October, 2017 for imports clearance and for exports on 01st April, 2019. It has significantly contributed to reduce the customs clearance time and played a major role for improving the countries EoDB (Ease of Doing Business) ranking from 100 to 77 released by World Bank during Feburary 2019 , later 77 to 63 during October 2019 and rose up to 63 during 2020.

On daily basis, taxpayers are uploading more than 2.15 Lakh documents on e-Sanchit repository. Total documents which have been uploaded on this repository is more than 30 Cr. They are accessible at anywhere on the globe at any time.

e-Sanchit allows the traders to file supporting documents with PGAs online by way of submitting the ‘Integrated Declaration’. This declaration compiles the data required for obtaining trade clearances. It can be digitally signed and submitted through the ICEGATE portal along with the supporting documents. Paperless processing reduces the hassles of physically visiting various government departments, thereby reducing cost and increasing the efficiency of import/export procedures.
