The Central Board of Indirect Taxes & Customs (‘CBIC’) has taken several measures to facilitate and expedite the custom clearance processes contact-less, face-less and hurdle-less. Now, the CBIC, in order to do the paper-less clearances, has launched digitally signed shipping bills and e-gatepass vide Circular No.30/2020-Customs and same will be effective from June 22nd, 2020.
Further, the Directorate General of Systems has enabled the functionality of providing PDF version of shipping bill to Customs Broker and exporter. And, e-gatepass will be provided to logistic operators for movement of export of goods. The shipping bill and e-gatepass shall be provided via email. The features of shipping bill and e-gatepass are as under:
Final Let Export Order (LEO) of Shipping Bill
- The PDF version will be digitally signed.
- Authenticity of LEO can be verified by using Mobile App “ICETRAK”.
- LEO will be bearing encrypted QR code and QR code will be containing details as under:
- Shipping Bill number
- Shipping Bill date
- Free on board (FOB) value
- Package details
- A version number is also embedded in QR code and same would be verifiable at ICEGATE Enquiry.
E-gatepass of Shipping Bill
- E-gatepass will contain details of container/packages for movement of goods and the same can be verified at the point of entry/exit by custodian.
- There will be following types of QR code on e-gatepass to ensure the movement of container details mentioned in e-gatepass.
- For entire e-gatepass document
- For container/package
- E-gatepass shall be issued in the following scenario
- Packaged and bulk cargos – Issuance of shipping bill
- Containerized cargo – After receipt of container stuffing information
The notable point is, all the supporting documents for exports are mandatorily required be uploaded in e-Sanchit (e-Storage And Computerized Handling of Indirect Tax documents)
