Department of Consumer Affairs issues an advisory on fraudulent e-mails

It has come to the notice of Department of Consumer Affairs, Government of India that consumers are receiving e-mails from fraudulent people asking for payment as security amount, etc.  on behalf of this Department. Consumers are advised that the Department of Consumer Affairs or any of its officers never ask for any payment from any consumer and any such demand on an e-mail is to be treated as a fraudulent demand. The e-mail addresses of the officers of Department of Consumers Affairs are mainly as per their respective designation or as per his/her name.  Any other e-mail addresses is to be treated as impersonation and complaints in this regard should be immediately filed with the National Consumer Helpline (NCH) either by calling Toll free No. 1XXX-XX-4000 or 14404 or by sending e-mail at [email protected] and [email protected].
