The Income Tax Department’s E-Filing Web Portal Will Not Be Working from June 1 to 6, Finish Your Tax-Related Work in Advance

The Income Tax Department is preparing to launch a new e-filing web portal for taxpayers in June second week. Therefore, the existing income tax department’s e-filling web portal will be closed from June 1 to 6. The new e-filing web portal will be live from June 7 that can be used for filing ITR (Income Tax Return) and other tax-related works. Income tax department officials announced on Thursday that the new e-filing portal will be launch in order to improve the overall system that will be more convenient than the existing one.

In an order issued on Wednesday by the department tax department, it has been announced that the work of moving from the old portal to the new portal will be completed by June 6 and a new portal will be made operation by June 7. Meanwhile, the income tax officers have been asked to set a date after June 10 for hearing or redressal of the complaints if any with the new portal. Officials have also been asked to postpone any work scheduled with taxpayers from June 1 to 6.

The Income department further stated that due to migration from the old portal to a new one, taxpayers will not be able to log in on the existing website income tax india e-filling.gov.in from 1 June 2021 to 6 June 2021. From June 7, taxpayers can visit INCOMETAX.GOV.IN to accomplish their tax-related works.

ITR Filing Deadline Has Been Extended Till 30 September

Recently, the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has extended the deadline for filing ITR for the PY 2020-21 (The assessment Year 2021-22) for taxpayers not liable to tax audit. Now, taxpayers can file their ITR by September 30. CBDT has extended the deadline for filing income tax returns by exercising the rights under section 119 of the Income Tax Act, 1961.

How to File a Revised ITR?

To file the revised ITR, the taxpayer needs to visit the Income Tax Department’s e-filing portal www.incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in and choose the option of filing the revised return. The number of filing the revised tax return is not fixed but the revised return cannot be filed after scrutiny assessment of the return.
