Old 500 notes cannot be used to for Bus / Rail Ticket & to pay Rail catering services wef 10.12.2016

Government has withdrawn the relaxation to make following payment in cash with old demonetised Rs. 500 Notes with effect from 10th December 2016-

1. At railway ticketing counters, ticket counters of Government or Public Sector Undertakings buses for purchase of tickets

2. For making payments to catering services on board, during travel by rail

3. For making payments for purchasing tickets for travel by suburban and metro rail services

S.O. 3678(E).—In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (2) of section 26 of the Reserve Bank of India Act, 1934 (2 of 1934), the Central Government hereby further amends the notification of the Government of India, in the Ministry of Finance, Department of Economic Affairs number S. O. 3408 (E) dated the 8th November, 2016 published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part II, Section 3, Sub-section (ii) dated the 8th November, 2016, namely:—

1. In the said notification, in paragraph 1, clause (b), clause (l) and clause (m) shall be omitted with effect from the 10th  December, 2016.
