Public Notice No. 05 (RE:2005)/2004-2009, dated 27.04.2005, issued by the Director General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, outlines amendments, corrections, and additions to the Handbook of Procedures, Vol. 2 (2002-2007) of the Foreign Trade Policy, 2004-09. Specifically, it updates the Standard Input Output Norms (SION) for various products to enhance trade efficiency. The document makes amendments and corrections listed in Annexure “A,” impacting chemical and allied products such as gypsum and phenol by adjusting their input-output norms and quantities. Additionally, norms for certain items, like the chemical compound 2,4 Dichloro Phenol, are revised, while others, such as entry A1323, are deleted. Annexure “B” introduces new entries (A-3519 to A-3543) for chemicals and allied products following the existing entry at A-3518, aiming to enhance the clarity and utility of the SION framework. Annexure “D” addresses plastic products, defining norms for non-tracking coated skirts and breakout items used in cable jointing. The notice aims to standardize the trade documentation and process to align with current industry practices and needs. These revisions intend to simplify trade by providing clear norms and guidelines for businesses involved in exporting and importing specific products, promoting a streamlined approach to trade policy.
