 Sub: Duty drawback  rates  for  Non-Alloy steel and Alloy steel forgings – regarding

Attention is invited  to  the SS Nos.73.28, 73.29, 73.30 and  73.31 of the  Drawback  Schedule, 2003-2004,  whereby duty drawback rates  have  been  provided for  non-alloy/ carbon steel forgings, etc. and  alloy steel forgings, etc., respectively.

2. Feedback  has been received from the field formations  that  these entries  are being  misused  by  the  unscrupulous  exporters  who are  manipulating  the description of  the  goods to derive undue  higher  benefits  which  are  not  intended by the  Government.  Therefore,  in the  interest of the  revenue,  it has  been  decided to delete  these entries  from  the  Duty  Drawback  Schedule, 2003-2004 with effect  from 1st  July, 2003. A notification no.42/2003-Customs (N.T.) has been issued. Thenceforth, the exporters can avail of  the  facility of  brand  rate  of duty  drawback  in terms  of  rule  6  of  the  Customs  and  Central Excise Duties  Drawback Rules, 1995.

3. Suitable public notices for information of the trade and standing orders for guidance of the staff may kindly be issued on the  above lines.
