System to be Fully Operational within 3 Months

Shri Salman Khurshid, Minister of Corporate Affairs, launched the electronic File Tracking System (FTS) in his Ministry here today. He electronically generated the first File No. under this system, which has been developed and maintained by National Informatics Centre (NIC). With this the Ministry of Corporate Affairs has become the First Ministry in Shastri Bhawan to implement FTS in its latest version: FTS 4.0. Shri R. Bandyopadhyay, Secretary, Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Dr. B. K. Gairola, Director General, NIC, and other senior officers of the Ministry were also present on the occasion. Shri Khurshid appreciated this initiative and said it will improve efficiency in the government.

FTS is a web based multilingual application which helps in tracking the movement of files and receipts. The application enables the users to maintain a consistent watch over the movement of various important Files and Receipts at different levels in the process of decision making. This system is based on Central Secretariat Manual of Office Procedure of Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances.

Shri Bandyopadhyay said that a training programme is being started in the Ministry to acquaint the Officers and employees of this new system and hoped that the entire file/letter movement system in the Ministry will be shifted to FTS within 3 months.
