Circular No. 28/2007-Cus.,

Subject:- Clearance of imported metal scrap–Procedure regarding.

I am directed to invite your attention to the Board’s Circular No. 56/2004-Cus dated 18th October, 2004, as amended on the above mentioned subject. As per the changes in the Handbook of Procedure (Vol.I) vide DGFT Public Notice No. 19 (RE-2007)/2004 -2009 dated the 16th July, 2007, the Board hereby makes following further amendment in the Circular No.56/2004-Cus, as amended dated 18.10.2004.

In para 5(ii), the entry number 12 i.e. ‘ICD, Tughlakabad, New Delhi’ in the list of 18 customs stations, shall be substituted by the following:
“12. ICD Loni, Ghaziabad”

2.  It may also be noted that the Public Notice No. 19 (RE-2007)/2004 -2009 dated the 16th July, 2007 provides that the new System of import from registered sources will come into effect from 1.4.2008 and imports will be allowed on the basis of Pre-Shipment Inspection regime, till the new system comes into effect. Further, transitional arrangements as per para 1.4,1.5 of Foreign Trade Policy will apply to the changes made in the said Public Notice no. 19 of 16.07.2007. Accordingly the Commissioner of Customs, ICD Tughlakabad may allow clearance of goods where irrevocable letter of Credit is established before the date of above change.

3.  The above information may be brought to the notice of the Trade immediately through appropriate Public Notice.

4. Receipt of this Circular may kindly be acknowledged.
