Union Budget 2016: The existing provision of sub-section (1A) in section 32AC of the Act provides for investment allowance at the rate of 15% on investment made in new assets (plant and machinery) exceeding Rs.25 crore in a previous year by a company engaged in manufacturing or production of any article or thing subject to the condition that the acquisition and installation has to be done in the same previous year. It is further proposed to provide that where the installation of the new asset is in a year other than the year of acquisition, the deduction under this sub-section shall be allowed in the year in which the new asset is installed.
These amendments will take effect retrospectively from 1 stApril, 2016 and will, accordingly, apply in relation to the assessment year 2016-17 and 2017-18.
