Notification No. 27 of 2004, dt. 21st Jan., 2004

Whereas the Central Government, in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-clause (h) of clause (iv) of sub-section 15 of Section 10 of the Income-tax Act, 1961, specified “9.5% Tax Free Bonds” of Rs.240 crore issued by the National Textile Corporation Limited bearing distinctive numbers from 1 to 24000 (out of the 9.50% Tax Free Bonds of Rs.248.69 crore bearing distinctive numbers from 1 to 24869), of rupees one lakh each, carrying an interest of 9.50% per annum for a period of five years, in the notification published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part II, Section 3(ii) dated the 10th December, 2002 vide S.0.1293(E);

Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by the aforesaid provisions of Income-tax Act, 1961, the Central Government hereby specifies the remaining “9.50% Tax Free Bonds” bearing distinctive numbers from 24001 to 24869, of rupees one lakh each, issued by National Textile Corporation Limited and carrying an interest of 9.50% per annum, for period of 5 years, for the remaining amount of rupees 8.69 Crore:

Provided that the benefit under the said section shall be admissible only if the holder of such bonds registers his/her name and the holding with the said Corporation.
