After filing returns online and posting it to the newly set-up Bangalore processing centre, if you haven’t got an email receipt from the income-tax department, your returns could have been rejected. The I-T department email receipt may not come to your email box for reasons you cannot comprehend.
The common reasons for non receipt of confirmation or rejection of your IT Return are as follows:-
- Instructions for sending the ITR-V or signed acknowledgement generated after filing returns online have not been complied with.
- If Assessee submitted photocopy of the signature instead of the acknowledgement with an original signature.
- Acknowledgement not printed on inkjet or a laser printer.
- If Bar code on return are not clear.
- IF we have written anything on bar code.
- If acknowledgement of return been stapled and back side of return is not clear.
- Acknowledgment is folded to avoid this we should send it in A size envelope.
- If sent by sent via courier or hand-delivered. It must be sent via ordinary post only.
- If you mentioned wrong email address in ITR.

The fourth points reads: “If Bar code on return are not clear and signed.”. The bar code should be clearly printed for direct data entry. Why it should be signed?
