Acute shortage of office space & residential quarters

Office space:

Our requirement of office space is around 9.72 lacs sq mtrs, while the space available is only 6.67 lac sq mtrs.

We are in possession of around 1.32 lac sq mtrs of vacant land, nearly 90 % of which was acquired over 5 years ago & 52 % more than 10 years back. Construction proposals on such lands are either under process or are yet to be received.

Residential quarters:

Our requirement of residential quarters (Type II to Type VI) is 27,060, whereas the availability is only 8,671 quarters (shortage of 68 %).

We are in possession of 1.54 lac sq mtrs of vacant land for which construction proposals have either not been received or are under process. Nearly 75 % of the vacant land was acquired over 5 years ago & 40 % land is more than 10 years old.

CCIT-wise status of the proposals

CCIT-wise status of the Infrastructure proposals presently in process with the Directorate of Infrastructure has been put on our website & may be downloaded therefrom.

CCITs (CCA) are requested to ensure that all infrastructure proposals pending in their offices / replies to all pending proposals, complete in all respects, reach the Directorate of Infrastructure on or before May 31 2011.

While sending new construction proposals, CCITs (CCA) may ensure that the proposed building layout:

1. is compatible with the modern information technology;

2. is in accordance with the best international practices;

3. provides the best possible amenities (parking, reception, helpdesk, waiting lounges, rooms for lawyers, CAs& tax practitioners, toilets, refreshment facilities etc) to the public.
