Sub: Request to provide an opportunity for those who failed to avail the Amnesty option.

Respected Sir,

We TCPAK, (Tax Consultant & Practitioners Association of Kerala) would like to thank you for all the sincere support received from your part. We are always indebted to you for the incredible measures including reliefs that you have announced during the crucial situations.

As you know that still we have not recovered from the effects of the Corona Virus and even its consequences are affecting every spheres of life. Taxpayers are also equally affected. Due to the hike in the number of Covid cases we have been forced to fix the working hours. This made delay in completion of the works within the specified time allotted. Many of our members and our clients who are merchants belong to the senior citizen categories. They are inadvisable to move out as they are more susceptible to the pandemic. Kerala Health Minister warned of a spike in COVID-19 cases in the state, and asked people to be extremely careful for the next few weeks. The Health Minister also advised the public to self-quarantine and remain patient until a vaccine for the pandemic is made available.

We would like to bring your immediate attention to an important matter and to take an appropriate decision regarding it.

The Amnesty in VAT is more beneficial for a merchant is concerned. Currently the Option to avail the amnesty scheme should be made on or before 30 November 2020. But still there are many merchants who failed to avail the option of Amnesty with the due date. So we kindly request you to provide an opportunity for those who cannot avail the Amnesty option.

Considering the unprecedented situation we find the need for an urgent notification to be issued for the extending the option for availing amnesty till 31st January 2021.

Hope to receive your immediate attention and magnanimous consideration.

With kind regards

A N Puram Sivakumar,
President.
