The Delhi Legislative Assembly on Monday passed by voice vote the Delhi Value Added Tax (Amendment) Act, 2011. The purpose of the amendment is to give extension for one more year which will be up to March 31st of March next year. Earlier the date for disposing pending appeals was 31st of this month and still more than 7,500 appeals are pending for which the date has been extended.
Speaking on the motion of thanks on Lieutenant Governor address in Delhi Assembly, Leader of Opposition V K Malhotra said the speech did not have any mention of important issues like unauthorised colonies, water supply, adulteration, traffic problems, pollution of Yamuna river and corruption.
While Chief Minister Mrs Shiela Dikshit said that government is committed to make Delhi a World Class city for which more work has to be done. She said, during Commonwealth Games several development works were done due to which the face of city has been changed. She said that city has registered tremendous growth in sectors like health, education and others. Later the motion was passed.
