The Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions has announced a significant step towards enhancing the ease of living for pensioners by integrating the pension portals of all pension disbursing banks into the Integrated Pensioners’ Portal of the Department of Pension & Pensioners’ Welfare (DoPPW). This initiative aims to streamline services for pensioners and provide them with a single-window access to various facilities.

During the launch ceremony of the Integrated Pensioners’ Portal of Bank of India on April 26, 2024, Secretary (P&PW) Shri. V Shrinivas emphasized the importance of integrating pension portals to ensure the convenience of pensioners. He highlighted the efforts undertaken by the Department of Pension & Pensioners Welfare to enhance pensioners’ welfare, with digital empowerment being a key focus area. Initiatives such as Digital Life Certificates and the Bhavishya Portal have been instrumental in this endeavor.

The Bhavishya platform, which facilitates end-to-end digitization of pension processing and payment, has played a crucial role in enhancing transparency and service delivery. Starting from the online filing of retirement papers to the issuance of the Pension Payment Order (PPO) in electronic format and storage in Digilocker, the Bhavishya platform has streamlined the entire process. Notably, this platform has been made mandatory for all central government departments since January 1, 2017, and has been successfully implemented across various ministries, departments, and attached offices.

The integration of pension portals with the Integrated Pensioners’ Portal of DoPPW addresses common issues faced by pensioners related to banking services. Services such as change of bank, status updates on life certificate submission, access to pension slips, Form 16, and pension receipt information will now be available through a single window, simplifying the process for pensioners.

As part of this initiative, the pension portals of major banks including State Bank of India, Bank of Baroda, Punjab National Bank, and Canara Bank have already been integrated with the Bhavishya portal. With these integrations, pensioners of Bank of India now have access to a wide range of services through the Integrated Pensioners’ Portal. Plans are underway to integrate more pension disbursing banks with the portal in the near future, further enhancing convenience and accessibility for pensioners across the country.

In conclusion, the integration of pension portals marks a significant step towards leveraging technology to improve the lives of pensioners, ensuring smoother access to essential services and information.
