Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India (IBBI) has announced the syllabus for Phase 9 of the Limited Insolvency Examination (LIE). Conducted under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India (Insolvency Professionals) Regulations, 2016, the LIE aims to qualify aspiring Insolvency Professionals. As mandated, the syllabus is published on the IBBI website at least three months before the examination.

Since its inception on December 31, 2016, the LIE has undergone regular updates to remain aligned with market dynamics. The IBBI has successfully conducted seven phases, with the eighth phase currently ongoing. The newly published syllabus for Phase 9 will apply to examinations conducted from May 5, 2025, onward.

Subject: Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India publishes syllabus for Phase 9 of Limited Insolvency Examination

Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India (IBBI) conducts the Limited Insolvency Examination (LIE) in pursuance to regulation 3 of the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India (Insolvency Professionals) Regulations, 2016, for prospective Insolvency Professionals. The said Regulations inter-alia empower IBBI to determine the syllabus of LIE, which shall be published on the website of the Board at least 3 months before the examination.

2. The IBBI commenced the LIE on 31st December 2016. The Board reviews the Examination continuously to keep it relevant with respect to dynamics of the market. It has successfully completed seven phases of the LIE and Eighth phase of examination is currently going on.

3. In accordance with the aforementioned regulations, the Board has published the syllabus of phase 9 of the LIE. The revised syllabus is applicable for the examination to be conducted with effect from 5th May 2025.

4. The said syllabus is available at IBBI website (gov.in).
