Q.1 How would I know that DBT funds have come to my account?

Ans. If you have availed SMS alerts facility from the concerned bank where your DBT account is opened, then the bank will send out SMS alerts when you get DBT funds in account. Alternatively, you can also check your account balance using ATM, microATM/ Bank Mitra, internet/mobile banking or through phone-banking.

Q.2 How do I receive benefits under the Govt. Schemes in my bank account?

Ans. To receive DBT benefits in your bank account, please visit the bank branch where you have opened the account and request the bank to link your Aadhaar with your account by filling up the mandate and consent form of the bank.

Q.3 I am not getting benefits of the Govt. schemes as I do not have Aadhaar. What shall I do?

Ans.  If you do not have Aadhaar, please visit any Aadhaar enrolment centre in your area to enroll for Aadhaar. Till the time Aadhaar is assigned to you, you may present your Aadhaar enrolment ID (EID), or submit a request to the implementing agency of the scheme for Aadhaar enrolment in case there is no enrolment centre in your area along with other alternate ID documents as per the scheme requirement. This will allow you to continue getting the benefits under the scheme.

Q.4 Shall I get benefits if my authentication fails?

Ans.  The notifications issued under section 7 of the Aadhaar Act, 2016 by the Central or State Governments in respect of their schemes provide mechanism to handle such cases where Aadhaar number is not assigned to an individual or Aadhaar authentication fails and instruct implementing agencies to deliver benefits on the basis of alternate identity documents and/or through following exception handling mechanism.

Q.5 How can I avail the benefits under various Government schemes including PDS (ration), MGNREGA using my Aadhaar?

Ans.  For availing benefits, you have to first enroll yourself under the schemes through the concerned implementing authorities in your area and submit a copy of your Aadhaar letter or e-Aadhaar, if asked for.

Q.6 My name is different in Aadhaar vis-à-vis service delivery database. What should I do?

Ans. Depending on which document needs name correction, such document should be corrected. In case the name correction is to be done in Aadhaar, then you may visit the nearest Aadhaar Enrolment Centre to update your name, age, address, mobile number and other demographic details (list available at www.uidai.gov.in).  Name and some of the other demographic details like gender, address etc. can also be updated online on Aadhaar Self Service Update Portal https://ssup.uidai.gov.in/ssup/

Q.7 My fingers do not work, when asked to place them on finger print device?

Ans.  You can visit the nearest Aadhaar Enrolment Centre to update your biometrics (list available at www.uidai.gov.in). We suggest that you carry proofs of  your identity and correspondence address. Also, we strongly recommend that you give mobile number at the time of enrolment/update, which  will help you get confirmation message as when your records are updated. You can also do best finger detection to increase your chances of authentication in future by using the best finger identified.

Q.8 I have multiple bank accounts, where will I receive my DBT benefits?

Ans.  You can receive DBT benefits only in one account as per your choice which has been mentioned by you while submitting the mandate and consent form to your bank for linking with Aadhaar. This account will be linked with NPCI mapper by the Bank to operate as DBT account. The Aadhaar-Bank account linking status can be checked on UIDAI website uidai.gov.in.

Q.9 Why does the Government ask for my Aadhaar for getting benefits under the schemes?

Ans.  Use of Aadhaar in the social welfare schemes helps identifying the intended beneficiaries. In the process, it also helps removing the fakes or duplicates from the scheme database.

Aadhaar for Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT)

As per the provisions under section 7 of the Aadhaar Act 2016, the Central or State Governments may mandate requirement of Aadhaar of the beneficiaries for availing the benefits/subsidies under the schemes that are funded out of the Consolidated Fund of India or Consolidated Fund of the State. The Hon’ble Supreme Court on 29.09.2018, upheld the constitutional validity of Section 7 of the Aadhaar Act, 2016. Benefits’ and ‘services’ as mentioned in Section 7 are those which have the colour of some kind of subsidies etc., namely, welfare schemes of the Government whereby Government is doling out such benefits which are targeted at a particular deprived class and whose expenditure is incurred from Consolidated Fund of India or from Consolidated Fund of State.

Q.10 How can I change my account to receive DBT funds?

Ans. To change the bank account for receiving DBT funds, please visit the respective bank branch and submit the mandate and consent form provided by your bank along with a copy of your Aadhaar.

Q.11 My bank branch is located far away. Is there any facility to withdraw DBT funds credited in my bank account at my doorstep?

Ans.  There are Bank Mitras/Bank Correspondents deployed by various banks and Post Offices who carry a handheld device called Micro-ATM. Using this, you can do multiple types of banking transactions on your Aadhaar linked Bank account like cash withdrawal, cash deposit, balance enquiry, mini statement, funds transfer to other Aadhaar holders, etc. You can also do ‘bet finger’ detection on these terminals.

Q.12 How does Aadhaar based DBT help me as a beneficiary?

Ans.  Seeding of Aadhaar in  the scheme ensures that nobody else can claim your benefits by impersonating you. Also, in case of cash transfers, the money reaches directly to your Aadhaar linked bank account. You do not have to pursue different people to get the funds; besides, you can decide in which bank account you want to receive the money. It is to be noted that  benefits under different schemes for which you have enrolled, are all transferred only  to one  Aadhaar linked bank account which is chosen by you.
