Confederation Of GST Professionals And Industries, Mumbai has written a letter on 19.7.2019 to Hon’ble Finance Minister and requested that request that the GST forms should be made available first and then the extension be granted and the limitation period for filing must be counted from the date of the form becoming available. Relevant Text is as follows:-

Ref: Due date being extended for Form CMP-08 in GST without making the form available

Respected Madam,

1. A new return filing was introduced in April 2019 for composition dealers. The Form CMP-08 was introduced to replace GSTR-4 to be filed by composition dealers, and the said Form CMP-08 was applicable from FY 2019-20.

2. The due date for CMP-08 for the period April 2019 to June 2019 was 18th July 2019. However, this date has been extended to 31st July 2019 since the form is not available.

3. We request that the forms be made available first and then the extension be granted and the limitation period for filing must be counted from the date of the form becoming available. This will ensure that a lot of panic which is created on the last day, when even the form is not available, will be avoided.
