In pursuance of proviso to sub-regulation (1) of Regulation 10 of the Cost and Works Accountants Regulations, 1959 as amended, the Council of the Institute at its 274th Meeting held on 18th May, 2012 has decided that the Certificate of Practice of the members who have paid the prescribed fees and submitted the prescribed form for renewal of Certificate of Practice for 2012- 2013 within due date but not having requisite CEP credit hours, shall be renewed upto 31st March, 2013 without creating a precedence and their Certificate of Practice so renewed shall be valid subject to their obtaining requisite CEP credit hours within 30th June, 2012 positively.

It has been decided by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs to mandate the cost auditors and the companies to file Cost Audit Reports (Form-I) and Compliance Reports (Form-A) for the year 2011-12 onwards (including the overdue reports relating to any previous year) in XBRL mode.
The value addition provided by a profession supplements and strengthens the statutory role which it normally plays under the legal framework by the government. As long as this aspect is recognized by the profession, the respect for it increases. Sometimes we get a rare opportunity to present this aspect to the Government during the formulation of the statute, so that the same can be incorporated in an appropriate form in the regulations. Our Institute utilized this opportunity when the new CARR and CAR notifications incorporated the Part III – Performance Reporting to the management, as a part of the report to be submitted by the Cost Auditor.
The students may be pleased to know that the suggested answers for December 2011, has been hosted on the website and is available for download to registered students of the Institute. The Examination notice for June 2012 examinations has been issued and the students can also file the application on line. As a part of encouragement to this e-governance initiative, the application form fee of Rs.50/- is waived for those students who are filing on line application.
Cost Accounting Standards Board, the standard-setting body of the Institute, has approved the release of Exposure Draft of Guidance Note on Cost Accounting Standard – 9 on Packing Material Cost (CAS – 9). The proposed Exposure Draft may be modified in light of comments received before being issued in final form.
The Institute of Cost Accountants of India intends to draw a panel for acting as Observer at the examination centre’s in various cities during the Cost accountants examinations to be held from June 11 ‐ 18, 2012. The three day long 53rd National Cost Convention of Cost and Management Accountants (CMA) for the year 2012 is being organised by the Institute of Cost Accountants of India (ICAI) here in New Delhi at Vigyan Bhawan from tomorrow onwards. It will focus on Enhancing the long term enterprise value- Environment, Society and Governance – Towards New form of Business Reporting and be inaugurated by the Minister of State for Corporate Affairs, Shri R.P.N. Singh. Shri Naved Masood, Secretary in the Ministry of Corporate Affairs will deliver Special Address during the Inaugural Session.
