New Delhi: Accounting regulator, Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), is planning to introduce a three-month mandatory training course for its students who pass the chartered accountancy and accounting technician examination every year. This would mean that a student after qualifying three year chartered accountancy course and one year accounting technician course will have to undergo an additional three months training programme.
Chartered Accountant firms in India with at least one full time FCA (Partner/Sole Proprietor) can apply for empanelment with this office for allotment of audit of Public Sector Undertakings during January-February as notified every year. The criteria for empanelment and selection of statutory auditors have been arrived at after due consultation with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India.
IFRS — issued by International Accounting Standards Board — is acknowledged by 113 countries. This is ICAI’s first list and more companies would be added on its next list, sources said. The first list comprises 439 companies. It includes BSE-Sensex companies, NSE-Nifty companies, companies that have raised debt of over $50 million abroad, financial sector companies, publicly accountable companies (with total borrowings of over Rs 1,000 crore), Indian subsidiaries of foreign companies that have implemented IFRS at the parent company and companies outside these categories with capital of over $50 million abroad.
The chartered accountancy firms of S K Naredi and Ashok Kedia have come under the scanner for their alleged role in the Rs 4,000-crore hawals transaction and illegal investment scam involving Madhu Koda and his associates. The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has been flooded with complaints of late against a section of CAs relating to their involvement in cases of financial bungling. This stark revelation comes close on the heels of the involvement of the two Jamshedpur-based chartered accountancy firms of Naredi and Ashok Kedia in the now infamous Koda scam.
1. Central and state GST will apply on all transaction of goods and services.2. Tax paid as central GST will be allowed to taken as input tax credit.3. State GST will also be allowed to be taken as input tax credit.
The Institute’s attention has been drawn today to an SMS purportedly sent from a code source viz. `TM-ICAI ELC’ which tends to give an impression that the same has linkage to the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India and its election in an abbreviated form. It has also been brought to our notice that the concerned message has reportedly been sent to all the members of a particular region.
During the last few days, the number of requests to intervene and bring halt to the issuance of SMSs and emails to voters at large has been on the increase. The general complaint of the voters is that the receipt of enormous mails and SMSs – many a time repeated mails from the same persons causes disturbances to their professional as well as personal life.
Our elections are held on the single ‘transferable vote’ system under which the voter has to indicate his preferences about the candidates by inserting the figures 1, 2, 3 etc against the names of the candidates according to his preference. Some members are under the impression that only the ‘ first’ preference vote has value. This impression is not correct.
Further, it may be noted that since technical scrutiny of balance sheet does not involve attestation function, accordingly any Chartered Accountant not holding certificate of practice is also eligible to apply for the subject panel.
