The 14th Goods and Services Tax (GST) Council Meeting, chaired by the Union Minister of Finance Shri Arun Jaitley, was held at Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir yesterday. The fitment of rates of goods were discussed during the Council meeting. The Council has broadly approved the GST rates for goods at nil rate, 5%, 12%, 18% and 28% to be levied on certain goods.

GST RATE SCHEDULE FOR GOODS

[As per discussions in the GST Council Meeting held on 18th May, 2017]

The fitment of rates of goods were discussed today during the 14th GST Council meeting held at Srinagar, Jammu & Kashmir. The Council has broadly approved the GST rates for goods at nil rate, 5%, 12%, 18% and 28% to be levied on certain goods. The information is being uploaded immediately after the GST Council’s decision and it will be subject to further vetting during which the list may undergo some changes.

GST rates for certain goods like textile, footwear, biris, precious metals, etc. are yet to be decided by the GST Council. The footnote below the table gives the list of such goods.

Note:

The rate structure for the following commodities is yet to be decided:

1.  Biri wrapper leaves (tendu patta) – Ch. 14

2. Biscuits–Ch.19

3. Biris– Ch. 24

4. Textiles– Ch. 50 to 63

5 Footwear – Ch. 64

6. Natural or cultured pearls, precious or semi-precious stones, precious metals, metals clad with precious metal, and articles thereof; imitation jewellery; coin – Ch. 71

7. Power driven Agricultural, horticultural, forestry, poultry keeping or bee-keeping machinery, Harvesting or threshing machinery, machi nes for cleaning, sorting or grading, machinery used in milling industry and parts thereof [8432, 8433, 8436 and 8437]

    Sir,

    Welcoming the new patron of Tax.

    GST will be divided into two. One for Central and the other is for State.

    The same is also adapted earlier as Excise & VAT.

    Invoicing the Tax and taking credit is burden to the common people.

    There is no price reduction on that.

    Uniformly .impose 2% or 3% without taking any credit will go to Central and may be distributed.

    This is only suggestion.

    1)cotton & cotton yarn 5% GST, Then Direct Export,
    Merchant Export of cotton will attract GST 5% GST?
    2)Imports from other country cotton 5% GST?
