PUBLIC NOTICE No. 29 ( RE-2003)/2002-2007

NEW DELHI: DATED: 17/10/2003

Subject:- Import of Raw Garlic against export of Garlic Products under Duty Exemption Scheme.

Attention is invited to Public Notice No. 36 dt. 17.9.2002 issued by this office.

2. Representations were received from trade stating that the condition of matching of Allicin content is difficult to befulfilled due to lack of testing facilities for Allicin. Further, it has been reported that there would be deterioration in the content of Allicin, over a period of time.

3. The matter was reviewed in consultation with Technical Authorities. The Director General of Foreign Trade, in exercise of powers conferred on him under paragraph 2.4 of the Export and Import Policy 2002-2007 as amended, hereby notifies that in partial modification of Public Notice No. 36 dated 17.9.02 and with effect from the date of its issue, the accountability of imported garlic in the under mentioned garlic export products shall be governed by the conditions indicated against each:-

a) Dehydrated/dry garlic (range 7.2% to 8.8% Moisture)- Recovery 33.5%

b) Dehydrated/dry garlic (range 5.9 % to 7.1% Moisture)- Recovery 32.5%

c) Garlic flakes and powder ( range 5.2% to 6.3% Moisture) Recovery 30%

For other garlic products or where exporters face difficulties ALC shall decide accountability.

4. Prior import condition as per Public Notice No. 36 dt. 17.9.2002 shall continue.
