Notification No. 12 (RE-2001) 1997-2002, dated May 8, 2001, issued by the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, amends the ITC (HS) Classifications of Export and Import Items. The notification allows the import of items listed in Sl. No. 164 to 191 of Notification No. 11 (RE-2001) from additional seaports. In addition to the previously specified seaports, the newly added ports include Bedi, Haldia, Kakinada, Kandla, Marmagoa, New Mangalore, Mundra, and Jamnagar. This amendment is made in the exercise of powers under the Foreign Trade (Development and Regulation) Act, 1992, to improve trade accessibility through these ports. The notification serves public interest by expanding the list of ports where imports can be processed.

S.O (E) – In exercise of powers conferred under section 5 of the Foreign Trade (Development and Regulation) Act, 1992 read with paragraph 1.3 and 4.1 of the Export and Import Policy, 1997-2002, the Central Government hereby makes the following amendments in the ITC(HS) Classifications of Export and Import Items, 1997-2002 published on 31st March, 1997 (RE-98) as amended from time to time, namely –
“1. Import of items as indicated at Sl. No. 164 to 191 of Annexure to Notification No.11(RE-2001)/97-02 dated 2.5.2001, shall be allowed from the following seaports, in addition to the Seaports/Airports/ICDs indicated in the paragraph 1 of the aforementioned notification:
Seaports:Bedi, Haldia, Kakinada, Kandla, Marmagoa, New Mangalore, Mundra and Jamnagar.”
