The Ministry of Finance has issued Notification No. 74/2025-Customs (N.T.) revising tariff values for a wide range of imported goods under Section 14(2) of the Customs Act, 1962. This amendment replaces Tables 1, 2 and 3 of the long-standing Notification No. 36/2001-Customs (N.T.) with updated values effective 15 November 2025. The new tariff values apply to commodities such as crude palm oil, refined palmolein, soybean oil, brass scrap, gold, silver, and areca nuts. The revised tables specify precise tariff values per metric tonne or per 10 grams, ensuring alignment with international price movements. Gold and silver categories have been differentiated based on form and eligibility for exemptions under a related customs notification. By updating tariff values, the government aims to facilitate more accurate customs duty assessment and maintain consistency with global market trends. The notification continues the practice of periodic revisions to reflect dynamic import pricing conditions.
