CBDT has issued instruction dated 12th February 2018 to conduct assessment proceedings in scrutiny cases electronically, saying that except for search-related assessments, proceedings in other pending scrutiny assessment cases shall be conducted only through the E-proceeding functionality in ITBA/e-filing.

Applicants can now apply for lower/nil deduction certificate from 28th February of the immediately preceding Financial Year. For instance, applications for the certificates for F.Y .2020-21 shall be allowed to be filed on or after 28.02.2020. Instructions No. 01/2020 Dated: 24/01/2020.

Offences u/s. 276C(I) : Wilful attempt to evade tax, etc. Cases where the amount sought to be evaded or tax on under-reported income is Rs. 25 lakhs or below, .shall not be processed for prosecution except with the previous administrative approval of the Collegium of Iwo CCIT/DGIT rank officers as mentioned in Para 3.

1) Why should I pay? I am already earning very less. 2) When others are not paying….why should I? 3) What is the benefit of paying taxes? The corrupt politicians and bureaucrats will wipe it for their personal gains. 4) Tax rate ( Income tax) is too high. When i can survive in a profit margin of 5-8 percent, Why govt needs 30 percent of my profits to meet its social expenditure.
