Finance Minister Arun Jaitley will launch an updated version of the existing website of Income Tax Department today to enable taxpayers to file easily their I-T returns or apply for a PAN card.
The updated version of the existing website of the Income Tax department– www.incometaxindia.gov.in– will now be acting as a single window for all activities and online services offered by the I-T department.
The website will be more user-friendly and robust, so that it can handle many hits at a time.
The website will also allow taxpayers to know about the I-T Act, various notices and circulars being issued from time to time and regular developments in the department.

Re setting of password when all the available options are exhausted is a nightmare for assessee and department officials are also clueless.
This to be addressed on priority basis specially for non resident assessee who solely depends on Indian Tax consultant.

To make it REALLY user friendly, Income Tax Officers should be made responsible to reply to emails written reg. pending refunds. At present, one has to visit the ITO for all MANUALLY filed returns. For electronically filed returns, however, he can ask for corrections, re issue of refund orders, re issue of assessment orders. This is not possible for manually filed returns.
The perception of the income tax payee has to change if the Department actually wants to help the tax payer.

WHETHER THE WEB SITE HAS SOLVED THE PROBLEM OF THE TAX PAYERS, CA,S TAX CONSULTANTS, ADVOCATES? Good finance minister. let us congratulate him for his act.

good move by govt of india finance department .pan line pan application is required to be more easier beacause it is the gateway to the income tax department
it is good that the site is updated. At least they could have done it after 1st October or on 2nd October. 30th sept. is the prescribed date
to file IT and other related returns.
why a hurry in the middile of a month and at the last moment
Most welcome from me to the FM is going to launch “Single Window Website for Income Tax Payer” This open system will encourage to our nations people who will easily know about the Indian Income Tax Systems and will get relief from their Income Tax File positions and update positions and boost to our nations people to obtain PAN Card and pay the tax easily.
