Notification No. 50/2014-Customs (N.T.)

G.S.R. (E). – In exercise of the powers conferred by section 79 of the Customs Act, 1962 (52 of 1962), the Central Government hereby makes the following rules further to amend the Baggage Rules, 1998, namely:-
1. (1) These rules may be called the Baggage (Amendment) Rules, 2014.
(2) They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette.
2. In the Baggage Rules, 1998 (hereinafter referred to as the said rules), in Appendix A,-
(A) against clause (a) of column (1), in item (ii) under column (2), for the symbol and figures Rs. 35,000”, symbol and figures Rs. 45,000” shall be substituted;
(B) against clauses (b) and (c) of column (1), in item (ii) under column (2), for the symbol and figures Rs. 15,000”, symbol and figures Rs. 17,500” shall respectively be substituted.
3. In said rules, in the Annex I, for item 3, the following item shall be substituted, namely:-
“3. Cigarettes exceeding 100 or cigars exceeding 25 or tobacco exceeding 125 gms.”.

Note. – The principal rules were published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part II, Section 3, Sub-section (i) vide notification No. 30/98-Customs (N.T.), dated the 2nd June, 1998 [GSR 296 (E), dated the 2nd June, 1998] and last amended by notification No.84/2013-Customs (N.T.), dated the 19th August, 2013 published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part II, Section 3, Sub-section (i) vide number G.S.R 560 (E), dated the 19th August 2013.
