On August 5, 2020, the Council of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) announced several important decisions made during their meeting on July 30, 2020. The Council approved a partial revision to the CS Executive Entrance Test (CSEET) to streamline the examination process. Additionally, amendments to the Company Secretaries (Procedure of Investigations of Professional and Other Misconduct and Conduct of Cases) Rules, 2007 were approved, allowing for disciplinary proceedings to be conducted via electronic or audio-visual modes.
The Council also approved the draft Annual Accounts for the fiscal year 2019-20, which include those of the ICSI headquarters and regional offices, for auditing. Another significant decision was the formation of a committee to manage the ICSI Overseas Centre, with plans to inaugurate the London Centre virtually. Furthermore, the Council addressed the challenges faced by overseas members, including compliance with CPE Guidelines and updating membership records. They authorized the President to offer relaxations on a case-by-case basis and approved the creation of a separate child portal for ICSI Overseas Centres to facilitate better management and communication.

Important decisions taken by the Council of the ICSI at its meeting held on 30th July, 2020
1. Partial revision for conducting of CS Executive Entrance Test (CSEET).

2. Amendments to the Company Secretaries (Procedure of Investigations of Professional and other Misconduct and Conduct of Cases) Rules, 2007 (`the Rules’) for making provision for Disciplinary proceedings through electronic or other audio visual mode.
The Council approved the proposed Amendments to the Company Secretaries (Procedure of Investigations of Professional and other Misconduct and Conduct of Cases) Rules, 2007 (`the Rules’) for making provision for Disciplinary proceedings through electronic or other audio visual mode.
3. Handing over of the draft Annual Accounts for the F.Y. 2019-20 to the Auditor for their Audit Report.
The Council approved the draft Annual Accounts of Headquarters, (inclusive of ICSI-CCGRT, COE-Hyderabad) & draft Consolidated Annual Accounts (inclusive of Regional Offices and Chapters) for the F.Y. 2019-20, for submitting the same to the Statutory Auditors for audit and their report thereon.
4. Formation of the Committee of members for managing the ICSI Overseas Centre,
The Council authorized the President to constitute the Committee and decided to inaugurate the ICSI Overseas Centre, London through Virtual mode.
5. Authorisation for resolving difficulties being faced by Overseas members and creation of separate Child Portal for ICSI Overseas Center(s).
The Council considered the difficulties being faced by members in complying ICSI CPE Guidelines 2019 and other issues such as updating address in ICSI records, payment of annual membership fee, updating details like Aadhar, etc. in the ICSI records and authorized the President for providing relaxations to overseas members from application of ICSI CPE Guidelines 2019 on case to case basis and advised the Secretariat to prepare guiding principles to claim the exemption thereon.
The Council further advised secretariat to allow creation of separate child portal for ICSI Overseas Centre(s) on ICSI website.
