Rajya Sabha today approved the Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Bill,2016 that seeks to protect the interests of the large number of aspiring house buyers while at the same time enhancing the credibility of construction industry by promoting transparency, accountability and efficiency in execution of projects.

In exercise of the powers conferred by sections 11 and 30 of the Securities and Exchange Board of India Act, 1992 read with section 25 of the Depositories Act, 1996, the Securities and Exchange Board of India hereby makes the following regulations to further amend the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Depositories and Participants) Regulations, 1996, namely:—
Central Government in consultation with the Competition Commission of India, hereby enhances, on the basis of the wholesale price index, the value of assets and the value of turnover, by hundred per cent for the purposes of section 5 of the said Act,
Central Government, in public interest, hereby exempts the ‘Group’ exercising less than fifty per cent. of voting rights in other enterprise from the provisions of section 5 of the said Act for a period of five years with effect from the date of publication of this notification in the official gazette.

The Gold Bonds under this Scheme may be held by a Trust, Charitable Institution, University or by a person resident in India, being an individual, in his capacity as such individual, or on behalf of minor child, or jointly with any other individual.
