A new rule, Rule 10A has been added to the existing Customs Valuation Rules, 1988 to give effect to the decision taken by the Ministers of the Countries which the signatories to GATT, 1994, (copy enclosed). The rule 10A reads as follows
Section 61 of the Customs Act, 1962 lays down the period for which the imported goods can be warehoused. The first proviso to this Section provides that the period of warehousing prescribed, on sufficient cause being shown, can be extended for period not exceeding 6 months by Commissioner of Customs. Recently, as you are aware, some member brokers of your exchange have corporatised their memberships and accordingly applied to us for their SEBI Registration. We have completed the work of granting registration to the corporate members. Consequently, all sub-brokers affiliated to those member brokers who have corporatised their cards, will also need to apply to SEBI for transfer of their affiliation
