The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs has issued a notification amending the long-standing customs tariff value notification under section 14(2) of the Customs Act, 1962, by substituting updated tariff values for specified imported goods. The revised tables prescribe new tariff values in US dollars for crude and refined palm oil, palmolein, crude soybean oil, brass scrap, gold, silver, and areca nuts. Separate tables clarify valuation for precious metals based on form, purity, and eligibility for concessional customs notifications, while excluding jewellery and certain other categories from the defined scope. The notification aims to align customs valuation with prevailing international prices to ensure uniformity and transparency in duty assessment. These revised tariff values will apply uniformly for customs purposes and are intended to facilitate predictable revenue collection and compliance. The amended notification comes into force from 16 December 2025 and supersedes the earlier tariff value tables issued under Notification No. 36/2001-Customs (N.T.), as last amended.
