Urja Mahesh KariaQuite a few years back when I first read this word, ‘SELF-ACCEPTANCE’ I wondered what does it really mean. Why would anyone need self acceptance, I thought we as human beings always accept ourselves. But, there’s more truth to it than I knew. “Self Acceptance is accepting ourselves, with all our flaws, deficiencies and shortcomings, just the way we are”. Is it easy? No. I may as well honestly say its not. It takes time, it takes practice and most importantly it takes Patience. “The way we look at ourselves matter the most”.

Is acceptance the same as Love? Love is nothing but being affectionate towards someone. We may love ourselves from the very beginning, everyone has affection towards themselves, be it little or more. But, do we always accept ourselves for what we are? There is at least one thing about ourselves, which they do not like, which they try hiding, being ashamed of it. People may be concerned about their looks or about the fact that you they are not good at something. It can be any reason. But, what we have to understand is, ‘If I am like this, then there sure is a reason for it and it sure is going to be advantageous for me, one way or another’. Always remember, Everything is rigged in your favor and everything happens for a reason.

We all get lost in self demurral , if only we knew that not accepting one self may lead to seeking approval from others. How would you know if you need self-acceptance in your life? It is when we ask for approval of others. Approval from our bosses, approval from our family, friends, peers. Have we ever asked for our own approval? Do we even approve of the things we do in our everyday life. What is the meaning of few words of appreciation from someone else when in our heart we don’t even consider ourselves worthy of it.

Most of us spend their entire lives waiting for someone who would make it all right, the one who would make them feel better, but have you ever considered the thought, that the person might as well be you yourself. No one likes critics, but do you know that you are your own critic, the biggest one of them all. Now people sure look at us, talk about us, judge us all they want. But most of the time we are so hard on ourselves. Let go of the need to be perfect. You’re not perfect, neither am I . But that is the best part. How else will we l grow? We are all human beings, and we all have insecurities, but it’s about being healthy and happy with yourself. The goal is to make the majority of your decisions good for your body. So listen to your body, and treat it like your temple.

Even when we are alone, we must feel okay with ourselves. Also, there’s this one thing we must all do, everyday. Grab a mirror, a glass piece or anything which will show us our reflection, now, look into those eyes. So much beauty, so much compassion, so much creativity, and loads of love. Now try and appreciate these qualities through the day.

As Gautama Buddha said, “You can search throughout the entire universe for someone who is more deserving of your love and affection than you are yourself, and that person is not to be found anywhere. You, yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection.”

very good and very simple idea, but think is that peoples do not want live with calm & satisfaction, therefore nobody want to listen yourself and adopting double character, by nature everybody interested to prove self smart and extraordinary, but mistaken in hurry and short route, of course we, every person has their unique status in the world but we all discover our-self in others , may be it is social phenomena.
    Regards,
