The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) shared positive updates, highlighting a gross GST revenue collection of Rs. 1.96 lakh crore for March 2025, the second-highest since GST’s inception. This revenue growth is attributed to the collaborative efforts of central and state GST officers and taxpayer trust. Furthermore, the CBIC issued the Annual General Transfer (AGT) orders for Group ‘A’ officers in April, a timely action facilitating smooth transitions for the officers and their families. The CBIC also launched the ‘Aakalan’ dashboard, a new performance management tool providing senior officers with a comprehensive overview of key indicators for data-driven decision-making across Customs and GST formations, aiming for enhanced governance and efficiency.

DO No. 14/News Letter/CH(IC)/2025 Dated: 07th April, 2025

Dear Colleague,

Gross GST revenue collection for March 2025 touched an impressive Rs. 1.96 lakh crore, marking the second-highest monthly collection since the introduction of GST, next only to April 2024. The sustained growth in revenue reinforces the collective efforts of officers from the Centre and State GST administrations and the trust reposed by taxpayers in the system.

The Annual General Transfer (AGT) orders for 2025 were issued last week by the Board across various levels of Group ‘A’ officers of CBIC. For the first time in many years, the AGT orders have been issued in the month of April, in accordance with the prescribed transfer and placement guidelines. This timely issuance is a significant step forward, as it enables officers to plan their transitions smoothly, with sufficient time to manage crucial aspects such as accommodation and school admissions for their families. I extend my congratulations to all officers on their new postings and am confident that they will continue to serve with renewed zeal and commitment. I also place on record my appreciation for the DGHRD (HRM-II), whose meticulous efforts played a key role in facilitating the timely and smooth issuance of AGT orders.

CBIC has launched the Aakalan Dashboard—a novel performance management tool designed to provide senior officers with a comprehensive overview of key performance indicators across Customs and GST formations. The dashboard enables data-driven decision-making by offering insights into critical areas of departmental functioning. This digital initiative marks another step forward in CBIC’s commitment to leveraging technology for improved governance, accountability, and operational efficiency. The Board encourages suggestions for further improvements of the parameters and sub-parameters. The dashboard is expected to play a pivotal role in enhancing performance monitoring and promoting a culture of continuous improvement across various formations.

Until next week!

Yours sincerely,

(Sanjay Kumar Agarwal)

All Officers and Staff of the Central Board of Indirect Taxes 86 Customs.
