On account of the lockdown/curfew in India due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Indian agencies authorised, in accordance with Para 2.103 of Handbook of Procedure, 2015-2020, to issue the certificate of origin under India’s free trade agreements (FTAs), comprehensive economic cooperation agreements (CECA), comprehensive economic partnership agreements (CEPA) and preferential trade agreements (PTAs) are temporarily closed and unable to issue the certificate of origin.

. It may kindly be noted that annual quota of Urad for the year 2020­-21 is 4 Lakh MT and will be effective from 1st May, 2020 to 31st March 2021. Accordingly, successful applicants will have to ensure that the import consignments of Urad reaches the Indian ports on or before 31.03.2021. Request for extension of time will not be entertained.

Due to ongoing shutdown in China on account of Corona virus outbreak, there is an apprehension of disruption in supply of raw materials/ inputs to our industrial units which were dependent on these raw materials. There could also be a dip in offtake in exports to China. On the contrary, there is a strong likelihood of an immediate surge in the imports from and export to China once the spread of the virus is brought fully under control.
