What is E-PAN ?

1. PANe. Permanent Account Number is 10-digit alphanumeric code issued by the Indian Income Tax Department to all taxpayers for uniquely identification of taxpayers.

2. Instant E-PAN facility is allotment of PAN on near-real time basis and is available only for a limited period of time. E-PAN is issued in PDF format to the applicants at free of cost and it will be issued on a first-come-first-serve basis.

3. One can get E-Pan having same value as Physical PAN Card within 10 Minutes Easy & Paperless Process. But Physical PAN Card will not be issued to taxpayer under this facility. However E-PAN stands as a valid form of PAN. One can get a printed physical PAN card by submitting a request through the links https://www.onlineservices.nsdl.com/paam/ReprintEPan.html.

4. Instant E-PAN facility is only for Indian Resident Individual Taxpayer who does not hold a PAN but holds a valid Aadhaar number at the time of making application i.e. first time taxpayers.

5. It must be noted that you cannot apply for Instant E-PAN in case you have lost your existing PAN. Further an individual who is a Minor as on the application date or a Representative Assessee u/s 160 of the Income Tax Act cannot apply for Instant e-PAN.

6. E-PAN is a digitally signed PAN card issued in electronic format based on e-KYC data of Aadhaar. Thus Aadhaar must have Correct & Updated details of the applicant and must be linked with an Active Mobile Phone Number.

7. You cannot apply for Instant E-PAN If Aadhaar has incorrect or incomplete details eg. Name, Date of Birth, Mobile No etc. In that case one need to correct details in Aadhaar databases either through UIDAI website (https://uidai.gov.in/my-aadhaar/update-aadhaar.html) or visits the nearest Aadhaar Enrolment Centre.
