The Government of India will host the 14th Annual Meeting and 10th Annual Technical Assistance and Training Forum of the Asia/Pacific Group (APG) on Money Laundering at the Le Meridien Hotel, Kochi (Cochin), Kerala, India, from 18th to 22nd July 2011. The Union Finance Minister Shri Pranab Mukherjee would make the opening address on 19th July,2011 .
In exercise of the powers conferred by clause (1) of article 217 of the Constitution of India, the President is pleased to appoint (i) Shri Justice Kamalkishor Kapoorchandji Tated, (ii) Shri Justice Prasanna Bhalachandra Varale, and (iii) Shri Justice Shahrukh Jimi Kathawalla, Additional Judges of the Bombay High Court, to be Judges of the Bombay High Court, in that order of seniority, with effect from the dates they assume charge of their offices.
A committee has recommended a host of tax incentives like exemption from customs duty, central excise and service tax to revamp the 30-year old Export Oriented Unit (EOU) scheme. After expiry of tax benefits for the EOUs, the government in February has set up a committee under the chairmanship of Development Commissioner, Noida SEZ, to revamp the scheme in sync with the changing business environment and gel with the Special Economic Zones.
NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court today directed Sahara Group firm Sahara India Real Estate Corp to approach the Securities Appellate Tribunal against market regulator SEBI’s order directing the return of money collected from investors for an OFCD scheme within a period of three weeks.A three-member bench headed by Chief Justice S H Kapadia also directed the Securities Appellate Tribunal (SAT) to decide Sahara India Real Estate Corp’s appeal against SEBI within a period of eight weeks.

Through Public Notice No. 55(RE-2010)/2009-14 of 17.06.2011, close date for document submission, scrutiny and issue of registration certificate for export of cotton was notified as 15.07.2011. Requests have been received for extension in view of strike/holidays in Bangladesh and disruption of work in Mumbai. Hence, close date is extended by one week up to 22.07.2011. There is no other change in Public Notice No. 55(RE-2010)/2009-14 of 17.06.2011. The last date of export remains 15.09.2011.
The BM Munjal-promoted Hero Group has paid Rs 811 crore as capital gains tax for buying out erstwhile partner Honda from their joint venture — Hero Honda , Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) today said. Hero has paid the entire tax amount of Rs 811 crore in two tranches, Rs 100 crore in March and Rs 711 crore in April, at the highest rate of 22%. They have not sought any concession, a CBDT spokesperson told PTI.
