Respected Sir,

Sub : Preventive measures for containment of the spread of COVID-19 – extension of deadlines – regarding –

Kindly refer to the subject as mentioned above.

2. Sir, as I have already informed you by Whatsapp message that Rajasthan State is in complete lockdown and no public transport, taxi, auto rickshaws are available to commute. Further, it is to inform you that apart from the complete lockdown ‘4’ districts of Rajasthan i.e. Bhilwara, Jhunjunu, Sikar and Tonk are under curfew and nobody can move out of their homes.

3. Sir, being a responsible citizen our officers and staff members are aware of their responsibilities towards the department as well as towards the nation at large. Even if officers and staff try to come to office, there is no transportation available, their life and health is endangered and measures taken for social distancing will go futile. There is a panic and the officers and their family members are scared. Sir, I do not have any words to encourage them to attend to their office work in the present scenario.

4. In view of above, it is requested that instructions may be issued for complete shutdown of Income tax offices and the only solution that appears to me is the extension of time barring date i.e. 31.03.2020 for all the proceedings in Income tax Act and extension of deadlines in other Acts implemented by the Income tax Department.

5. Sir, we look forward to you and request to take urgent and effective positive steps to address the concerns of officers and staff members of Income tax Department.

With Regards

Yours Sincerely

(Neena Nigam)

Shri P.C.Mody, IRS
Hon’ble Chairman,
Central Board of Direct Taxes,
North Block, New Delhi.
