The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested a Deputy Commissioner of Customs; an Appraiser, both of Custom Houses, Jawahar Lal Nehru Port Trust(JNPT), Nhavaseva(Maharashtra) and two collection Agents (private persons) in a bribery case of Rs.22,000/-.
It was alleged in the complaint that the accused Custom officials were demanding bribe through their collection agents. CBI laid a trap and a collection Agent was caught red handed while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs.22,000/- on behalf of Custom officials. During further investigation, both the Custom officials and another two Collection Agents were arrested.
The arrested accused were produced in the Designated Court and were remanded to police custody upto 12.06.2012
Further investigation is continuing.
