Seeks to amend notification No. 27/2011-Customs dated 01.03.2011 to withdraw the export duty of 20% on Onion (HS 0703 10) from 1 St April, 2025.
Ministry of Finance, through Notification No. 19/2025-Customs dated March 22, 2025, has amended Notification No. 27/2011-Customs to withdraw the 20% export duty on onions under HS Code 0703 10. Exercising its authority under Section 25(1) of the Customs Act, 1962, the government decided that removing this duty aligns with public interest. The amendment substitutes the existing duty rate with “nil” in the relevant table entry. The revised rates will take effect from April 1, 2025.

G.S.R. 186(E).—In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 25 of the Customs Act, 1962 (52 of 1962), the Central Government, on being satisfied that it is necessary in the public interest so to do, hereby makes the following further amendments in the notification of the Government of India in the Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue), No. 27/2011-Customs, dated the 1st March, 2011, published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part II, Section 3, Sub-section (i), vide number G.S.R. 153(E), dated the 1st March, 2011, namely :-
In the said notification, in the TABLE, against S. No. 1, in column (4), for the entry, the entry “nil” shall be substituted.
2. This notification shall come into force from the 1st day of April, 2025.
