The Ministry of Finance, through a notification dated January 23, 2025, has amended the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (Regulation of Controlled Substances) Order, 2013. This amendment adds several new substances to Schedules B and C of the order, such as 4-piperidone, 1-boc-4-piperidone, and various methyl glycidic acid derivatives. These additions aim to regulate these substances under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985, enhancing control over their production, distribution, and use. The order comes into effect immediately upon its publication in the Official Gazette. This amendment follows prior updates made in 2018, 2020, and 2022 to strengthen regulations surrounding controlled substances.

G.S.R. 71(E).— In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9A of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 (61 of 1985), the Central Government hereby makes the following order further to amend the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (Regulation of Controlled Substances) Order, 2013, namely: –
1. (1) This Order may be called the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (Regulation of Controlled Substances) Amendment Order, 2025.
(2) It shall come into force on the date of its publication in the Official Gazette.
2. In the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (Regulation of Controlled Substances) Order, 2013, in the SCHEDULE, –
(a) in SCHEDULE-B, after serial number 27 and the entries relating thereto, the following serial numbers and entries shall be inserted, namely :-

29. 1-boc-4-piperidone,
