The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), under the Ministry of Finance, has issued a directive under Section 119 of the Income-tax Act, 1961, stating that all Income Tax offices across India will remain open on March 29, 30, and 31, 2025. This decision is due to March 31, 2025, falling on a closed holiday, while March 29 and 30 are a Saturday and Sunday, respectively. The order aims to facilitate the completion of pending departmental work before the financial year 2024-25 ends. The directive has been issued for administrative convenience and applies to all relevant tax authorities and offices.

Subject: Order under section 119 of the Income-tax Act, 1961- reg.
The Financial Year 2024-25 closes on 31′ March, 2025 (Monday), which is a Closed Holiday. Further, 29th March, 2025 is a Saturday and 30th March, 2025 is a Sunday.
2. Therefore, to facilitate completion of pending departmental work, all the Income Tax Offices throughout India shall remain open on 29th, 30th and 31st March, 2025. This direction is issued for administrative convenience by the Central Board of Direct Taxes in exercise of powers conferred under section 119 of the Income-tax Act,1961.
