CS Management Trainee Interview Experience | How To Excel In An Interview | Interview Hacks

I WAS FED UP OF WAITING!

I would like to share with you all my personal experience after clearing out my CS examinations in the Year 2020 with All India Rank in all the three Stages. Yes, you read it right. I was an All India Ranker in Foundation, I secured 9th AIR in Executive and 13th AIR in Professional.

It all started in March 2020, when PM of India declared complete lockdown in India. I was giving interviews till March 2020, I also got selected in HDFC Limited, but my tenure was from April 1, 2020 and hence, I got stuck. Apparently, lockdown had a positive side for me. Why? Because due to Lockdown I gave interviews in a heck of Companies and it became so easy for me to crack the interviews.

I had given interviews in Tata Motors, HDFC Limited, Fullerton India Credit Company Limited, Mahindra and Mahindra, GM Modular, IL&FC, etc. My latest interview being in  Tata Capital Limited, where I am currently working as an CS Management Intern. To be honest with you all, I’ve got selected in all the said mentioned companies. How? Why was it so easy for me to crack the interview when others were struggling to even face the interviewer. It was a walk on the cake for me and I am sure it would be for you all as well if you just follow the simple below tips:

First let me ask you some questions? While answering it, be honest with yourself..

1. Do you research enough about the Company before giving an Interview?

2. Do you practice by answering questions in front of mirror?

3. Do you notice  your Body language while giving an Interview?

4. Do you attentively listen to your Interviewer while giving an Interview?

5. Do you just ask questions in an Interview for the sake of asking, or actually desire to know about the Company while an interview?

If any one of the above is NO, then my friend, this needs to get corrected. Everything will start falling into place once you understand the purpose of the Interview, purpose of the Company, purpose of the Interviewer.

So, let’s start with the tips :

  •  Research Enough.

Interviewers love when their Company gets acknowledged.  They will surely ask questions like what you know about the Company, or who is the CS of the Company, or who is the MD of the Company, and you can’t fail there, because if you do, it will hinder your impression over there. It takes 10 mins to get to know about the Company, all you have to do is to visit the Company’s website, go to corporate governance section and all the information would be there.

  • Study Enough.

Obviously, you need to do your homework before giving an Interview. You need to excel in this actually. If you know about your field enough, you’ll feel confident naturally and this will have a positive impact in the Interview. While studying, make sure you go through latest amendments in your field. Make sure you revise enough. This will boost your morale, which is must required.

  • Body Language – The mirror for Interviewer.

Your knowledge might not be evident at first in an Interview, but your Body language is all there is for an Interview to judge you at first. So, excel in this. Start having an command over your Body language, start siting straight, do hand movements while answering, make an eye contact with your interviewer, feel comfortable while an interview so your interviewer will feel the comfort and hence the conversation will be smooth.

  • Ask Logical Questions

All you have to do is show your interest towards the company. Like genuine Interest, and how are you going to show it? Asking genuine questions. Showing your curiosity towards the Position. Ask questions like what are the challenges I will face in starting months, What can I do to overcome those, etc. Not questions like what will be the pay and stuff. Don’t think that pay question is not important, it is but nobody would like to hire  someone that is only interested in Money and not about the responsibilities. I hope you are getting my point.

Last, but not the least, Be yourself. Don’t pretend to be someone else. Be honest in an Interview and try to have a smooth conversation, an ongoing conversation. It is actually very easy. A mental game where you don’t have to pressurize yourself or give alot of importance to it, be casual, be normal, that is when you can give your Best!

Hope this would help you.

Best of Luck.
