The DGFT vide Notification No. 58/2015-2020, dated February 12, 2021 amended certain provisions of Chapter 1 and Chapter 2 of the Foreign Trade Policy, (2015-2020) (“FTP”), related to Import Export Code (“IEC”). As per amended provision:

1. DGFT issues IEC in electronic form (e-IEC). Application for issuance of e-IEC can be made directly on the DGFT web portal https://www.dgft.gov.in/CP/.

2. An IEC holder has to ensure that details in its IEC is updated electronically every year, during April to June Period. In case no changes, same also needs to be confirmed online.

3. IEC will be deactivated if it is not updated within the prescribed time. It will be activated only after the successful updation.

4. An IEC may be also be flagged for security. IEC holder are required to ensure that any risk flagged by the system is timely addressed; failing which the IEC shall be deactivated.

Step in updation and Link of IEC (Existing IEC holder)

After click on “update IEC”, login tab will open. Put login details if registered.

If not then register it first by putting required details.

You can use forgot password option also in case do not remember the password.

(New password will be sent on registered mail ID)

  • After login into portal, link your IEC first if not linked yet. To link IEC OTP will goes on Registered mail ID. After successfully Link, click on “Update/Modified IEC option”
  • After clicking on Update IEC, a tab will pop up which will show your IEC code details in below manner. If you want to change any details then changes the details in respective heads. If there is nothing to change then save every head of information.
  • At the end of the process check the application summary and submit it. To submit the summary attach the DSC of registered person.

    My question is, if any Nurse hired by any organization on Letter of Engagement for two months, will she be liable to pay professional service tax (10%) if her total wage pay increases 30000/- ?
