On 25 April 2025, the Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue) issued a notification (G.S.R. 261(E)) amending its earlier list of agencies authorized to receive information under Section 66(1)(ii) of the Prevention of Money-laundering Act, 2002 (PMLA). This amendment adds the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C) as the 27th agency eligible to access information under the Act. The decision was made in the public interest and reflects the growing relevance of cybercrime-related data in financial crime investigations.
The original notification, G.S.R. 381(E) dated 27 June 2006, has undergone multiple amendments over the years to expand the list of institutions involved in preventing and investigating money laundering. The inclusion of I4C, a key agency under the Ministry of Home Affairs focused on cybercrime coordination, is expected to enhance inter-agency cooperation and improve information sharing related to digital financial crimes.
