Customs Notification Extends Deadline to February 28, 2025

Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue) has issued Notification No. 49/2024-Customs, dated December 26, 2024, amending the earlier Customs Notification No. 64/2023. This amendment extends the deadline for the provisions outlined under S. No. 1, Column (4), from December 31, 2024, to February 28, 2025. The change is made under the powers conferred by Section 25 of the Customs Act, 1962, and Section 124 of the Finance Act, 2021, and is deemed necessary in the public interest.

The amendment takes effect on December 27, 2024, ensuring that stakeholders have additional time to comply with the requirements specified in the original notification. The principal notification, issued on December 7, 2023, and later amended on September 13, 2024, aims to streamline customs procedures and address compliance timelines. This extension provides businesses and individuals with a more manageable timeframe to meet the specified obligations.

Notification No. 49/2024-Customs | Dated: 26th December, 2024

G.S.R. 782(E).—In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 25 of the Customs Act, 1962 (52 of 1962) read with section 124 of the Finance Act, 2021 (13 of 2021), the Central Government, on being satisfied that it is necessary in the public interest so to do, hereby makes the following further amendments in the notification of the Government of India in the Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue), No. 64/2023-Customs, dated the 7^th December, 2023, published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part II, Section 3, Sub­section (i), vide number G.S.R. 884(E)., dated the 7^th December, 2023, namely:-

In the said notification, in the Table, against S. No. 1, in Column (4), for the words and figures “31^st day of December, 2024”, the words and figures “28^th day of February, 2025” shall be substituted.

2. This notification shall come into force from the 27^th day of December, 2024.
